Superintendent's Office
About Mr. Ellis

In his career as an educator, Matt Ellis has served as a high school teacher, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent. Matt began as a social studies teacher at Grandview High School, in Washington’s Yakima Valley. During his time in the classroom, he was also involved with coaching wrestling and directed the school’s transitional programing as a Link Crew advisor. As an administrator, Matt was an assistant principal at Pasco High School and principal at Royal High School. In both roles he sought to improve educational outcomes for all students and create a culture centered around student achievement.

Matt began his superintendent career at Lind-Ritzville Cooperative Schools before moving to Prosser School District in 2018. Although Tillamook School District marks his first superintendency in Oregon, Matt was a graduate of Oregon State University where he was a standout wrestler. Currently, Matt is working on a doctorate through the College of William and Mary.

At his core, Matt believes that every child deserves the finest teaching and educational experience possible. As part of his work, Matt has been able to create a district culture where students go on to experience success in college, work, and life.
